Complementary Activities

The course includes a field trip to Iquitos, the largest city in the upper Amazon catchment, where the students will be able to:

  • Visit the beginning of the Amazon River at the Marañon-Ucayali confluence (Rainforest).
  • Visit the anabranching structures of the Amazon River.
  • Visit the Nanay River (a meandering river) where oxbow lakes will be observed.
  • Get in contact with unique indigenous and traditional cultures.
  • Visit some local natural museums
