Outcomes

Through work in the course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the basic concepts of sustainability and sustainable development,
  • Understand the current major energy sources used in Peru,
  • Comprehend how energy and water are used in Peru in both urban and rural areas, and the link between economic advancement and energy consumption in the globe,
  • Understand water and wastewater management practices and needs in Peru,
  • Understand waste management practices and needs in Peru as well as the role of the main stakeholders in the system (e.g., scavengers),
  • Understand the Peruvian mining sector: formal and informal
  • Comprehend the importance of the mining sector in the Peruvian economy and its environmental, social and cultural impacts.
